Inspiration Khuan + Ktron "...our commissioned work is mostly focused on arts, culture, education and other non-profit causes, in tune with our particular lifestyles and anti-consumerist convictions." www.khuan-ktron.com www.flickr.com/photos/khuan Harmony Korine ( + Werner Herzog + A Silver Mt. Zion ) "I always try to at least... hope... that you could imagine that these people actually exist, that these places are really there. It's – maybe it's absurd or strange as they are... that, like, these people really... kind of... are here with us. Um. It's almost like a subtle science fiction – it's like the real world, except slightly tweaked... you know? Like, it's maybe a slight manipulation. But I'm always imposing my views, I'm always making things up. I never kind of pretty much... I never really had that much interested in like, sticking to like... you know... the truth." www.harmony-korine.com www.youtube.com Woom www.myspace.com/woomtime www.w-o-o-m.blogspot.com Jamie Stewart “When I’m really depressed I can’t write. I mean, I try, but it’s just kind of like…” He trails off, smacking his forehead with the heel of his hand." www.myspace.com/xiuxiuforlife http://xiuxiu.org/ Guatemalan Sinkhole "A cavernous and almost perfectly round sinkhole swallowed an entire intersection in Guatemala City during a tropical storm. The hole is 66 feet across and plunges nearly 100 feet down." www.telegraph.co.uk www.wikipedia.org www.youtube.com Gerhard Richter "Strange though this may sound, not knowing where one is going, being lost, being a loser, reveals the greatest possible faith and optimism, as against collective security and collective significance. To believe, one must have lost God; to paint, one must have lost art." www.gerhard-richter.com Alex Trochut "I don't believe in choosing a particular style for my work, but rather I focus on expressing myself and communicating my craft through the needs and moment of each project. Every project pushes me to look at alternate situations, and adapt myself to better understand and express my process. That exploration is something I truly enjoy in design." www.alextrochut.com | News 20.07.10 Influenza The show was a huge success – hundreds of people at the private view and nothing but praise and celebration. It was great. All the work and stress was worth it I think, but it didn't end there... After taking the show down, attending our graduation ceremony, and finishing a couple of jobs, Friday night I went for a meal with my family – the first night in probably over a year where I literally had nothing else to worry about, it was all over... And then I come down with the flu. Felt like a train hit me and knocked me out for the weekend. I'm slowly getting better... but I think (hope) it's time to take it easy for a while. 04.07.10 Build Tomorrow we start building the Save Our Souls show. We have a huge venue and loads of work to do but it's going to be the best degree show this year. There will be drawings, prints, paintings, sculptures, taxidermy, films, animations, a shop, a Sunday Market and even a raffle in support of Art Against Knives (with prints by the likes of Rob Ryan, Adrian Johnson and Luke Best). It's going to be good. 25.06.10 Result So we got our results yesterday and I've a been given a First Class Honours. It's what I've been working for all year and is more a relief than anything. Looking forward to working without ticking the boxes! 22.06.10 Camberwell Degree Show Yesterday was the private view of Camberwell College of Arts Degree Show. A brilliantly enjoyable evening ended by wandering into a sobering and slightly worn out house party at 5am. 07.06.10 Xiu Xiu Yesterday I went to see Xiu Xiu and Woom play in Brixton. One of the best gigs I've ever been to, both bands were incredible. Jamie Stewart is a massive hero, it was truly inspiring. I'm moving to California as soon as I can. 01.06.10 New Website I finally have my website back up and running! Better than the last one that's for sure. This time running on the Cargo platform – it's an absolute pleasure to use. I'll be adding lots of work over the next few days so expect to see something new if you come back. |
